BMW reinvents its electric mobility on two wheels with the new CE 04 scooter
BMW presents its new generation of electric scooter, the CE 04, which arrives with a bold, futuristic design and two power levels

BMW Motorrad has already presented its new generation of electric scooter, a niche in which the German brand already has extensive experience and which now carries over to the new CE 04, a fully electric model that replaces the C-Evolution and that, for many who have been waiting for it, will undoubtedly be a delight, since this new model keeps practically the same look as the prototype presented initially.
Its styling is bold and will undoubtedly turn heads wherever it goes, with straight lines when seen from the side, where its “floating” seat built in a single piece will immediately catch the eye. Just below it, there is a 20-litre storage compartment on the right side where you can keep up to two jet helmets or one full-face helmet. Also, from the side, you can see the original lenticular wheels or the curious sidestand, which is in keeping with the overall design of the BMW CE 04.

Moving on to the front, we find a more classic look, with a nose that drops off abruptly and houses an LED front headlight unit, a set that certainly gives a more aggressive image. And while the front shows elaborate details on the CE 04, the rear takes a minimalist approach: if you look closely, there is no rear light, because BMW has integrated the brake light and position light into the indicators themselves.

On the technology side, the BMW CE 04 assists the rider from the riding position with a 10.25-inch colour TFT display that offers a wealth of information. Furthermore, we can add the Keyless keyless start system, the riding modes ECO, Rain and Road included as standard, to which the Dynamic mode can be added as an option, along with reverse gear. Naturally, as is usual across the BMW Motorrad range, the CE 04 can benefit from numerous elements and systems on the options list, such as heated grips or adaptive lighting Headlight Pro, among others.

Mechanically, the new BMW CE 04 is offered in two power levels. First, there is the variant aimed at those holding an A1 licence or a B licence with three years of experience, in which its electric motor delivers a rated power of 15 CV with a peak power of 31 CV and a torque of 62 Nm. This powertrain features a 6.2 kWh battery that gives it a range of around 100 km.
Secondly, as the more powerful variant, the BMW CE 04 is also available with a rated power of 20 CV with peak power of 42 CV, maintaining the same torque of 62 Nm. For this powertrain the battery capacity increases to 8.9 kWh, so the range also rises to 130 km at most. According to BMW data, in this variant the CE 04 can go from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the less powerful version.

A major advantage of the BMW CE 04 is that, when it comes time to recharge its battery, you can use a wallbox if you already have one, since it is equipped with a Type 2 charging connector, similar to the one used by electric vehicles. Depending on the version chosen, it can perform full charges with the on-board charger at 2.3 kW in around 4 and a half or 3 and a half hours, a time that can be reduced if you use fast charging of up to 6.9 kW, bringing it down to almost 1 hour and three quarters or just over 1 hour.
BMW plans to open the CE 04 order book shortly, as the first deliveries are expected to take place at the beginning of next year.
