The Toyota Land Cruiser is going to get smaller and change its name: this is how the Land Hopper will be

When it comes to off-roaders, there aren’t many models that fit that label well and have become benchmarks in the market. One of them is, without a doubt, the Toyota Land Cruiser. Not long ago, we saw the new Toyota Land Crusier 250 presented in Spain a few months ago, and in the announcement of this variant, a dark silhouette appeared that hinted at a new version. This one was somewhat smaller, so it previewed this more compact version, positioned below the Land Cruiser 250.

If everything goes as we expect, the Japan Mobility Show starts on October 25, so it will be a good opportunity to see this new compact off-road model. There is no information about it, but it has already been announced that there would be a compact version of the Land Cruiser. A name has even been registered that could be the one used for it: Land Hopper.

What do we expect from this compact Land Cruiser?

We have already noted that we expect the name to be Toyota Land Hopper and that it will keep a recognisable line like its predecessor. According to some sources, the length will be around 4.5 metres, with a width that will not exceed 1.80 metres. It is not known whether it will have three or five doors, although the five-door option has more supporters and the manufacturer will possibly end up choosing it.

As for the mechanics, this new compact off-roader is expected to receive the engines of the Corolla Cross, both the hybrid and the petrol versions, adapted for off-road use. An electric version is also expected in the near future, so everything seems set for us to get the first news about the new model at the end of October.

As for the price, this model is expected to reach Europe at a price of around 30,000 euros, perhaps even a little below that. This would position it as a small off-roader with great performance that could become a sales hit.
