The Toyota Prius+ is offered as a hybrid taxi, with offers aimed at professional drivers

Toyota has prepared the ECO trim of the Prius+ so that it can be easily approved as a taxi in any town council, equipping it with a good number of safety features that allow this vehicle to be used day to day in the city, carrying passengers

Manufacturers are making great progress in hybrid technology, so they have several offers ready to help this type of vehicle gain ground in cities, both for personal and professional transport. Toyota wants the Prius+ to reach taxi drivers and become one of the vehicles they choose to offer their services in the city.

It is a good idea, especially considering the serious problems cities are facing because of polluting emissions. In the case of the Prius+, we are talking about an MPV that can be offered in a five- or seven-seat version, with enough space to comfortably carry several passengers.

This model can be approved as a taxi and adapted to meet the requirements of each town council. The version designed for professionals in urban passenger transport is the Prius+ Eco, which includes features that allow it to offer a very complete service to its passengers.

To start with, this model has a 2 + 3 + 2 seat layout, so it can accommodate up to five passengers, with a boot of 200 litres when all seven seats are in use, or 505 litres if the two rear seats are folded.

On the rear bench there are two ISOFIX anchor points, in case it is necessary to fit a child seat, in either of the outer seats, and it also has seven airbags, a driver’s seat with height adjustment and electric lumbar support, automatic climate control with pollen filter, Hill Assist Control (HAC), cruise control and keyless entry and start.

As for the drivetrain, the 1.8 VVT-i combustion engine and an electric motor together deliver 136 CV, more than enough to get through working days in the city. It is increasingly common for taxi drivers to rely on hybrid vehicles for their work, as they reduce consumption and make the most of all the features of this type of car.
