The Twin-E kit converts a diesel car into a hybrid and allows it to obtain the ECO label

This kit, created by a French company, is designed to convert a diesel car into a hybrid car, with an electric motor and a range of 70 kilometres.

The sustainable mobility is gradually gaining ground in Europe, and there are many alternatives for embracing this type of mobility. Not all of them are vehicles that were electrified from the factory; some can be converted to use hybrid systems in order to reduce the impact of polluting emissions. The French company Green Corp Konnection (GCK) has presented a conversion kit to turn diesel cars into hybrid vehicles.

This kit will allow diesel vehicles to become electrified vehicles, which makes it easier for them to circulate in cities. It is not cheap, because it costs between 5,000 and 7,500 euros. That said, the advantages are considerable, because it uses electricity as its energy source and vehicles can enter restricted zones without fear of fines.

Twin E 2 Kit Hibrido

This kit is compatible with most diesel models on the market, so there is no need to own a specific vehicle to use it. It uses an electric motor of 30 to 40 kW, which replaces the gearbox and features an epicyclic gear structure.

The battery is located in the boot, so it has no effect on the structure of the vehicle. It has a capacity of 11 kWh which, although not very high, allows the car to travel up to 70 kilometres in fully electric mode. This figure is enough to cover the daily distance driven in the city for several days.

To charge this battery, you can opt for a 1.2 kW charger, with a recovery time of seven hours, or one of 3 kW. The charging time in this case is three hours. It also features regenerative braking, so it can also recover energy this way.

One of the characteristics of these converted cars is that they become automatic. On the dashboard there will be a selector so the driver can drive in electric mode, with the combustion engine, or in hybrid mode. It is assumed that any specialised workshop can install the kit in less than 24 hours. As for efficiency, the tests carried out show that fuel savings allow the cost of the conversion to be recovered in a short time.
