The virtual reality experience on board a Porsche Cayenne
A dealership in Los Angeles is offering Porsche Cayenne users a virtual reality experience for passengers, linked to driving.

Enjoying a Porsche Cayenne on board has many variations. The most obvious is getting behind the wheel and letting the vehicle’s features surprise you. A great way to enjoy everything this and other models of the brand have to offer. But Porsche goes even further and wants to give users new experiences. Virtual reality is another of those ways to feel the excitement on board a Cayenne.
This is the proposal that Porsche has presented at a dealership in Los Angeles, providing passengers with a unique and special entertainment experience based on virtual reality games. The brand, in collaboration with Holiride, offers the possibility of experiencing a virtual reality game to enhance the journey for passengers seated in the rear seats.

A game linked to driving the Cayenne
The Porsche Experience Centre in Los Angeles is the first to implement this experience, which goes beyond offering a video game to passengers. Once the user adjusts the virtual reality glasses and the game is activated, it moves based on the driving data of the car.

This means that the game’s internal movement is based on acceleration, deceleration and steering. Every movement the car makes is transmitted to the game and sets the rhythm, speed and direction for the player. The game is an adventure in which the player is the gunner of a spaceship that must shoot down enemy ships. So the direction of the ship is set by how the Cayenne is driven, and the player’s skill is what allows them to get through the game.
Although it may seem a trivial thing, it helps to create new experiences on board the car and makes journeys more enjoyable for passengers. It offers one more form of entertainment, which will help make trips more appealing. For now, it is only offered as a demonstration at this American centre, but it could be shown at other centres around the world.
And, over time, we may see it equipping cars in the near future. Furthermore, the use of driving data applied to this type of system opens the door to other technologies and applications that may have other uses.
