Golf Golf Variant Volkswagen Compact Range / versions
The Volkswagen Golf 2017 welcomes the R range, which boosts the model

The year 2017 brings a new addition to the very popular Volkswagen Golf family, which will debut the model’s R range for this new version we will see throughout the year. It will reach the European market alongside the entry-level version with the 1.0 TSI engine and the 2.0 TDI 4MOTION. These models will maintain the level we expect from this new version of the Volkswagen Golf, so we will have more power and strength alongside a more affordable entry level.
As with the rest of the range, these new Volkswagen Golf models will come with LED daytime running lights as standard, as well as the new Composition Color infotainment system. The Golf R will be offered in two body versions, the most common hatchback and an estate version, with the characteristic shape to accommodate a much larger boot. In addition, it will feature more power and higher maximum torque.

The 2.0-litre turbo engine achieves an increase of 10 CV and 20 Nm, reaching a power output of 306 CV and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The Volkswagen R can reach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, according to the manufacturer itself. In addition, it can be ordered with a manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The availability of all-wheel drive will allow the car to extract every possible ounce of performance from that 2.0-litre engine. Consumption has been reduced to 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres, placing it within a more than acceptable range for city driving and for enjoyment on country roads. As for price, we do not yet know what this model will cost in Spain, although we do know what it will cost in Germany, which gives us a clue.
Prices in its country of origin range from €40,674 for the three-door bodystyle with manual gearbox to €44,800 that dealers will ask for the Variant version with the seven-speed DSG gearbox. Let’s see if they surprise us in Spain…
