The Volkswagen Golf R and ABT join forces to deliver an even more charismatic result

ABT always strives to outdo itself time and again, with the goal of offering products even more impressive than the previous one, as happens with the models supplied by the VAG Group. It is well known that the German tuner has a great fondness for vehicles from Audi, Volkswagen and even Skoda, which undergo a series of modifications that affect them in every way. On this occasion, ABT has decided to give the Golf R a much more striking look, eliminating every trace of its life as a standard vehicle.

The Volkswagen Golf R has already been used on other occasions as a volunteer to provide it with a large dose of sportiness. In this way, a compact was born that is capable of going head to head with the all-powerful Audi RS3 and even with vehicles from higher segments, but for ABT it was not enough.

The dissatisfaction of the German tuner has led to the creation of an even more radical Golf R, at least in terms of styling, since ABT has not confirmed anything regarding an increase in its power. To do so, both the exterior and the cabin have been dressed in their finest attire to show the world a much more aggressive and rugged character, which perfectly represents ABT’s intentions.

The first thing that catches our attention is the chosen paint, which combines lime green, white, black and grey tones to bring to life the camouflage that sits over the silhouette of the vitaminised compact. This strong styling change is accentuated by the unique 20-inch design wheels, which also help maintain the even more sporty spirit that the Golf R exudes. At the same time, the diffuser now houses four new exhaust outlets, which will help increase the roar of the 2.0-litre TFSI living under its bonnet.

To complement the aggressive styling and improve cornering, ABT has fitted a new suspension system, which considerably lowers the ride height of the Golf R. But the changes we can see have also been applied inside, where we can observe a new steering wheel trimmed in leather and carbon fibre with blue stitching, the signature colour of Volkswagen’s R range.

In this way, ABT has managed to create a new range of vehicles known as Abstrac Concept, where the styling of its vehicles is accentuated in every way. The Golf R finished by the German tuner will be present at various events, such as the SoCal Big Euro in San Diego -2 September- or the Pacific Waterland in Woodburn -9 September- where it will be present alongside other models.
