Renntech has some fun with the Mercedes-AMG GT R, and this is the result

If the Mercedes-AMG GT R already seemed an exceptional car to us, you need to pay attention to this transformation carried out by Renntech, truly spectacular

We were all impressed by the Mercedes-AMG GT R, a car that has broken all the expectations we had of the brand. And this excellent supercar features a 4.0-litre V8 engine that delivers 577 CV and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, which is already a very impressive figure. But Renntech wanted to play with the model and has offered an impressive conversion, not only aesthetically but also mechanically.

That engine, which already offers so much power and capability, has been retuned to deliver 813 CV and a maximum torque of 815 Nm, thanks to an ECU adjustment, but also to the addition of a new turbo and the replacement of other components in the engine block that give it that extra power and better behaviour on the road. The gearbox has also received adjustments, and the dual-clutch transmission has seven speeds.

There is no data on how aspects such as the 0-100 km/h acceleration improve, which on the base model is only 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 318 km/h. In addition, Renntech has created a more restrained version, with a power output of “just” 612 CV and a maximum torque of 730 Nm, for those who want more power than the base model provides but do not want such a brutal increase.

In terms of aesthetics, Renntech has added bodywork elements that raise the car’s visual appeal and give it a more interesting look and, if that is possible, a more dynamic appearance with greater visual presence. Among these distinguishing elements are a rear wing with two positions and a larger rear diffuser.

The wheels have also been replaced, dispensing with the ones fitted to the base model, and now feature Vossen rims measuring 10 x 19 inches at the front and 12 x 20 inches at the rear. The tyres used in this case are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP in sizes 285/30 and 335/25. An “upgrade” to a car that already seems impressive to us, so we can dream of getting behind the wheel… if we dare.
