The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance is now priced in Europe

Volkswagen defines the new ID.3 GTX Performance as the electric equivalent of the brand’s iconic sporty compact, the Golf GTI Clubsport.

The German manufacturer has just officially opened pre-orders for the most powerful and radical version of the first model in the ID. family. The ID.3 GTX Performance, unveiled last March, is now on sale in Europe with a price in Germany starting at 52,295 euros. This high-performance version features two electric motors that deliver a combined 240 kW, slightly outpacing the standard ID.3 GTX, which is already available on the market.

The ID.3 GTX produces a total of 210 kW thanks to the APP550 motor integrated into the rear axle, while the ID.3 GTX Performance reaches 240 kW. This difference in performance is naturally reflected in the retail price. In Germany, the entry price for the first one is at least 50,795 euros, plus the cost of optional equipment. As already mentioned, the new Performance version of the ID.3 GTX starts at 52,295 euros. It should be noted, however, that in Germany these prices can be reduced by the 3,570-euro environmental bonus that Volkswagen currently offers for all models in the ID. family.

Both the standard GTX version of the ID.3 and this new GTX Performance version are the only ones that feature the new APP550 powertrain from Volkswagen for this model. In both high-performance versions, this electric motor generates a maximum torque of 545 Nm, allowing the GTX Performance to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed is limited to 200 km/h in this more powerful version.

More important details about its technical specifications

As for the battery pack, its net capacity in both versions reaches 79 kWh, slightly higher than the 77 kWh of the standard long-range model. According to Volkswagen, the gross capacity of this battery pack is 84 kWh, with a maximum DC charging power of 185 kW. This allows the battery charge to rise from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes. The combined range under the WLTP cycle is 604 kilometres for the ID.3 GTX and 601 kilometres for the GTX Performance version.

Externally, both GTX versions are distinguished by a new black air intake with a diamond-shaped design and a customised light signature at the front. In addition, black 20-inch wheels are available as an option. Inside, Volkswagen states that these models feature numerous specific GTX line features.

The New Volkswagen Id.3 Gtx Performance

The ID.3 GTX Performance, which unlike the standard GTX is currently only available to order, includes the latest generation of software for Volkswagen’s infotainment system, with a 12.9-inch screen and a voice assistant with ChatGPT. Optionally, it can also be equipped with a Head-Up Display with augmented reality and a Harman Kardon Premium sound system. The standard driver assistance and safety systems, such as Cruise Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, can additionally be complemented by a Connected Travel Assist that uses online data.
