The Volkswagen Tiguan is updated with new diesel engines and an infotainment system

Only a few months remain before a new generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan is unveiled, but the Germans have decided it is a good idea to update their engines and also offer some incentive, perhaps as a preview of what the next version of the brand’s compact SUV will bring, which will be presented in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Let’s look at these new features that we will be able to find starting this month.
To begin with, the 2.0-litre diesel engines have been modified: from now on the least powerful version will produce 150 CV, instead of the 140 CV it offered since launch. As for the 174 CV version, it now delivers 181 CV. In addition to increasing power, these engines also reduce CO2 emissions by 17 g/km, which is no small achievement and will likely influence the choices of potential buyers.
The multimedia equipment has also been revised, as the previous audio systems have all been replaced by the Composition Colour and Composition Media systems. These feature a touchscreen, eight speakers well distributed throughout the interior, and a variety of connections that allow occupants to connect any device they have.
It will also include the Discover Media system, which comes with the Guide & Inform package that is currently standard on many Volkswagen models. Both this system and the Composition Media can be ordered with App Connect, optionally. Thanks to this option, most of the apps available in the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store can be integrated into the system. To complete the technology equipment, the Media Control can also be added, which allows volume and other functions to be controlled via a tablet, even by occupants in the rear seats.
