The Volkswagen Up! dresses up as a Beetle to pay tribute to this great classic

This version of the Volkswagen Up! pays homage to the classic 1982 Beetle model and offers colours and designs inspired by it, which reminds us of it

I think there is no classic more classic than the Volkswagen Beetle, a car that was born to be the “people’s car” of Germany, but that has transcended everything imaginable and is one of the most well-known (and coveted) cars in the world. For now it is not known whether a new generation will be built, but there is one car that wants to pay tribute to it, and for this reason a special edition of the Volkswagen Up! has been launched that is based on the classic 1982 Beetle.

This version of the city car has been dubbed Volkswagen Up! Special Bug and is on sale in Germany, where it has been put on the market for 13,625 euros. The car is finished with Black Pearl colour details and equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, although there is also a version finished in gold with black polygonal wheels, which has a slightly higher price, reaching 13,775 euros.

Both have the Special logo on the lower part of the doors, while their wing mirrors feature a black or silver finish, offering an interesting contrast with the body colour. Inside you can find gold-coloured upholstery, a finish that is repeated on the instrument panel. The standard Up! finish is also available, with aluminium trim and the word Up! engraved on the doors. They also have black colour on the roof and the equipment is completed with heated seats.

The Volkswagen Up! Special Bug is also available in a version powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which is offered only in the Black Pearl colour version. The price of this version is 16,600 euros and it uses a 1.0-litre TGI engine coupled to a five-speed gearbox. If you are interested, you should know that, at least for now, it is limited to the German market, so we will have to wait and see whether it reaches Spain in some way.
