The Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar will be sold in 13 countries in 2015

Volvo is celebrating. It seems the reception of the performance versions Polestar has been better than expected, and the Swedish brand has had to increase production of these two very special vehicles.

For now, Volvo only offers the S60 and V60 Polestar, and production is also limited. However, it is not ruled out that new Polestar versions of other models in the range may appear in the future.

The Polestar adventure began in 2014, when Volvo announced that, at last, and after a long time of doubts and studies, it was giving the green light to the limited production of the S60 and V60 Polestar, which immediately became the most powerful and high-performance Volvo models of the moment. Only 750 units of each model were planned, further limited to a few privileged countries (USA, Canada, England, Japan, Netherlands and Sweden). It seems the 345 CV of the Polestar have been more than welcomed, so demand has far exceeded both production and the brand’s expectations.

This has led for 2015, Volvo to announce an “extension” of production of both models, so that during this year another 750 units of each model will be manufactured, slightly opening up sales possibilities by expanding into new markets: Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, for a total of 13 countries.

The technical specifications of this new run of Polestar remain unchanged, with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine delivering 345 CV and 500 NM. Paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a permanent all-wheel-drive system with intelligent power distribution, they are capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
