The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sets a new record and celebrates it with two special editions

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has managed to beat a record on the Nürburgring lap and, to celebrate it, will launch two special versions of its saloon.

High-performance electric car prototypes face quite demanding tests. One of those tests is completing a lap of the Nürburgring circuit in the shortest possible time and beating the record set by other similar vehicles. That is what the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has done, breaking its own record at the Green Hell. To celebrate, the brand has launched two special editions with improvements in equipment and performance.

Xiaomi has managed to beat the Nürburgring lap record with both the production model and the prototype, as was the case with the latter. While the production model achieved a time of 7:04.957 minutes, the prototype cut its previous record by 24 seconds, so it now completes the lap in 6:22.091.

This makes it the third fastest electric prototype to have set the best time, behind the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo driven by Timo Bernhard (5:19.546) and the VW ID.R (6:05.33). But what matters to us is that Xiaomi wanted to celebrate this milestone with the launch of two special versions to mark it, which make the production model even more interesting.

The first version is an upgrade package called Track Package. It consists of a high-power battery designed for circuit driving, an improved cooling system and optimised brakes to keep the car’s power under control. The suspension has also been adjusted to deliver the best behaviour on the Nürburgring circuit, and it reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.

An even more exclusive version

And if this special edition seems a little short of expectations, a second, even more imposing version arrives. It is called the Nürburgring Edition and is more striking than the previous one. It features a new roll cage replacing the rear seats, redesigned lower body panels and aerodynamic improvements that enhance the model’s look and behaviour.

Of this special edition, Xiaomi will only produce 10 units in 2025. In total, there will be no more than 100 units. They will cost 814,900 yuan, roughly equivalent to around 100,000 euros. This version costs considerably more than the base models, but its performance is significantly increased and it is designed to be enjoyed on track.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra uses three electric motors that generate a combined output of 1,138 kW, equivalent to 1,527 CV, and its torque is 1,770 Nm, so it is already a formidable car on its own.
