A spare parts company has worked on a spectacular 2012 Audi R8 GT and turned it into a unique model that has no bodywork.

Normally, at the SEMA we can see several models that have had components added to make them even more spectacular than they already are. So it is strange to come across a car that has been stripped of almost everything and has an almost post-apocalyptic look, in the style of any film like Mad Max: Fury Road.

But this is the case of the Audi R8 GT that can be seen at this year’s SEMA, presented by LeeC Parts, a company that specialises in salvaging parts from very special and exotic cars. In this case, they found this 2012 Audi R8 GT and decided to give it a new and spectacular look.

The history of this car is on record: in 2014 it was modified by Underground Racing. Six days after being delivered to the customer, it suffered an accident and was taken off the road. Some time later, the people at LeeC Parts found it and bought it.

Instead of dismantling the car and using its parts to sell on the spare parts market, the company decided to work on it and give it a distinctive look. The modification carried out by Underground Racing boosted the 5.0-litre V10 engine of this R8 GT to an incredible power output of up to 1,700 CV when running on racing fuel.

The transmission has also been modified so that it can withstand the stress produced by such power. Control is achieved thanks to the ceramic brakes that the Audi R8 GT comes with as standard. But at first glance, what stands out is that this car has been stripped of all its bodywork elements, except for the front windscreen, the rear windscreen and the roof.

To ensure safety, a tubular structure acting as a bumper has been fitted, protecting the occupants in the manner of doors. To make it legal to drive on the road, the car has been equipped with lights. This has allowed it to be homologated and it can be driven anywhere. Although, who would want to drive a car that looks like it came out of a post-apocalyptic action film?
