This is how the ad that Porsche used to tease the new 911 GT3 was filmed
Porsche reveals the secrets behind the iconic Super Bowl ad, which features some of the brand’s most famous models.

Just a week ago, Porsche gave us a taste of the spectacular Super Bowl ad, which not only showcased some of the brand’s most iconic models speeding along, but also leaked what appears to be the new 911 GT3. Although the German manufacturer neither confirmed nor denied our assumptions, it did want to show us how this ad was made, which will go down in history as one of the most original and exciting of all time.
The people from Stuttgart spared no expense in choosing the stars of this ad, who have played a decisive role throughout the life of Porsche. Vehicles as legendary as the 917 have temporarily left their place in the museum to hit the public roads in pursuit of one of the brand’s latest additions, the Taycan.
The Porsche Carrera GT and 918 Spyder didn’t want to miss the party, nor did the 911 GT2 RS or a tractor, the latter serving as a reminder of the German firm’s agricultural past. The plot revolves around a supposed thief who escapes from the museum at the controls of the Taycan, Porsche’s 100% electric saloon. To stop him, the security guards resort to the cars parked there to carry out an entertaining chase through the streets of Stuttgart.

But capturing all of this required a crew worthy of the vehicles starring in it, which is why Porsche brought in 150 people. Among them was Alexander Klein, Head of Vehicle Management and Heritage Experience at the Porsche Museum, who, together with his team, was in charge of preparing some of the most historic models to drive on public roads.
Part of the filming took place in the Black Forest, where snowy roads tried to stop the German firm in its ambition to shoot one of the most iconic ads of all time. However, thanks to the team’s preparation, the vehicles were equipped to drive even in the most adverse weather conditions.

In addition to tyres suited to bad weather, the cars carried characters as colourful as Harald Müller, who holds the world drifting record, and Lars Kern, an official Porsche driver who tamed the legendary 917 during filming. To make sure everything went according to plan, the German firm enlisted Wayne McClammy to direct the ad with the help of a Porsche Cayenne fitted with a camera crane and two drones capable of flying at 160 km/h.
