Nissan is preparing a new driver assistance system, which will continue to be called ProPILOT and will be updated to offer more technological innovations that will improve safety and make driving easier. It will even favour autonomous driving in certain situations, which makes this a rather interesting update.

This update to ProPILOT is based on three key elements: the use of advanced artificial intelligence, high-precision mapping and a collision prevention system. Among the technology used in this system, the Ground Truth Perception software and Wayve AI Driver stand out. These two solutions have been designed to overcome the most complex driving challenges that can arise both in urban environments and on the open road.

For its part, Ground Truth Perception uses a state-of-the-art Lidar. This is responsible for mapping the vehicle’s surroundings with complete precision. With this tool, the vehicle analyses the environment in real time, identifying potential hazards and reacting quickly and effectively to any risk that may arise. The safety of this system is very high and the risk of accidents is reduced.

The Wayve AI Driver software is the brain and heart of ProPILOT. It was developed by the company Wayve and is based on an artificial intelligence model that is trained through real driving experiences. Generative AI has been implemented to adapt to new scenarios and guarantee smooth and efficient driving. Continuous learning allows the system to overcome the most complex difficulties on the road, improving driving.

The ProPILOT that will launch in 2027 will not only have the best technology currently available, but will also serve as the basis for making improvements in future evolutions of the system. The aim is to advance the technology so that more efficient autonomous driving can soon be achieved, ready to be useful in the very near future.
