This is the Brabus 125R: the most radical and exclusive Smart thanks to the German tuner

Brabus and Smart have teamed up once again to bring the 125R to life, a special edition limited to 125 units that produces 125 CV of power and 200 Nm of torque

Exclusivity doesn’t distinguish between segments or vehicles, and we can see it as a defining trait across many models. Brabus, a tuner known for bringing out the most radical side of Mercedes products, has decided to do the same with the small Smart, which now goes by the name 125R. Although its modifications are not as extreme as those applied to the Clase G, we can observe a series of changes that considerably elevate this German city car, both aesthetically and mechanically.

Smart stands out for offering a range of original vehicles with personality, two traits that have not been enough for Brabus. With this premise, the German tuner has decided to squeeze out every last drop of latent sportiness in the small city car, with the aim of offering its customers an exclusive yet fun vehicle.

The 125R special edition is applied to the ForTwo Cabrio variant, and it is a limited run of just 125 units. Aesthetically, we can notice the appropriate changes Brabus usually makes, such as a much more aggressive front bumper, different tuner logos, a diffuser with three exhaust outlets, or a more sporty and aerodynamic splitter. However, the exterior appearance has not been the only area to receive improvements.

The Smart cabin has been complemented with leather upholstery and red stitching, larger and more prominent paddle shifters, and pedals finished in aluminium, among other components. In this way, Brabus has ensured a visual look in line with the new character of the Smart, since its engine has also been a target for the German tuner.

Let’s recall that the Smart features a turbocharged 0.9-litre three-cylinder engine, which has received intake system upgrades to produce a total of 125 CV of power and 200 Nm of torque. These figures catapult the German city car to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and give it a top speed of 175 km/h. At the same time, the ride height has been lowered by 3 centimetres thanks to firmer suspension, which is complemented by a more precise and effective braking system.

However, every modification comes at a price, which starts at €39,900 in Germany. For this figure, customers will enjoy not only more radical and sporty performance but also unprecedented exclusivity thanks to the 125 units that will be built of the Brabus 125R.
