This is the largest charging station in the world: it will be able to charge up to 144 cars at once
Germany will be home to the largest charging station in the world, a service hub where up to 144 cars can be recharged simultaneously.

The largest charging station in the world will be in Germany and is a good example of how much impact electric mobility already has. We are talking about a service center capable of supplying electricity to 144 vehicles simultaneously, where 4,000 electric cars are expected to gather each day.
To date, there has been no project that has committed so seriously to electric mobility as this charging station, a facility that thanks to the German government will receive a generous state subsidy. We know it will be built by the company Sortimo and will require an investment of 15 million euros. 40% of the total amount will be subsidized by the German government.

The service center will be located on the outskirts of Augsburg to serve electric cars traveling along the Autobahn A8, a connecting route between Munich and Stuttgart. The facility will offer a wide range of charging systems for electric cars. There will be 24 charging points using innovative high-speed technology (350 kW) that will allow cars’ batteries to be restored in record time: 10 minutes.
Unfortunately, there are still no cars on the market that incorporate the adapters these chargers require, a strong indication of the faith this project places in electric mobility. The remaining 120 charging points will also use a high-speed system, though of lower power: 50 kW.
The charging station will also offer a high degree of environmental responsibility, since all the electricity supplied during charging will come from solar or wind sources. The sustainability efficiency of this service center is truly impressive; in fact, the heat generated by the charging points will be reused to heat the facility.
