This is what the new Hyundai i20 will look like: leaked images

The first images of the new generation of the Hyundai i20 have leaked. The South Korean model is undergoing a radical redesign with the aim of earning a place in one of the most competitive segments.

The Geneva Motor Show 2020 is just around the corner and with it, a flood of new releases. Many brands are already previewing what they will unveil from next March. Of the thousands of novelties we will see in Geneva, now it’s time to talk about the new Hyundai i20. A B-segment model whose third generation will aim to climb the ranks and go head-to-head with the kings: the SEAT Ibiza, the Renault Clio or the Ford Fiesta.

Sharp, sporty design for the new Hyundai i20

Only a few days remain before the official presentation and all its images, but for now we will have to make do with the leaks of its exterior design. The change compared with the second generation is radical. The design features more streamlined, sharper and, therefore, more sporty lines.

A sportier silhouette does not necessarily mean the design is more attractive or better finished. We are going to describe its new features so that everyone can decide whether they like this third, new generation of the i20 or not.

The city car sports a front grille with very slanted and aggressive headlights and a completely new rear end with a design unusual for the segment. The rear lights are joined by an LED light bar that gives the i20 an innovative, avant-garde touch.

The bodywork is two-tone. We see the intense, dark blue exterior combined with black finishes for the roof, mirrors, rear diffuser and roof spoiler. It is not a bad bet by the South Korean brand with the bodywork design. At the rear there is also a novelty: its camera. Hyundai has placed it just below the light bar that joins the optics.

Few more official details

For now we have no further confirmation. No interior images have leaked so far, so everything we say will be approximate. Without exact data, we know it will debut a large multimedia screen and a digital instrument cluster.

Regarding the engine range, the new Hyundai i20 has not confirmed which engines it will offer. In any case, the most likely scenario is that it will keep the current range, pending whether it also arrives with some “ECO” novelty. It will surely offer three-cylinder petrol and diesel units with outputs between 100 and 120 CV. And hopefully, later on, we can talk about an i20 N…
