Toyota Yaris Compact Geneva Motor Show
Toyota reveals a new high-performance Yaris with 210 CV of power

More and more manufacturers are offering high-performance B-segment vehicles. In this case, Toyota has unveiled a subcompact inspired by the Yaris WRC, with which the Japanese brand will take part in the World Rally Championship. This sporty version of the Yaris will be presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show (from 9 to 19 March) alongside the Yaris WRC, which will debut at the Monte Carlo Rally at the end of this month.
The radical version of the Yaris features a three-door body and more than 210 CV of power. The design of this Yaris stands out for introducing sporty elements such as a large rear spoiler and a diffuser with a central exhaust. On the technical side, it receives a series of modifications that improve ride comfort and driving feel.

The entire new Yaris range will benefit from the design changes previewed by this new high-performance Yaris, including the Yaris Hybrid, which remains a unique offering in the B-segment and accounts for more than 40% of all Yaris sales in Europe and more than 50% in Spain.
The currently marketed version of the Yaris has been on the market since 2011. The new generation could be presented at the end of 2017. Of course, no further details are known about the engine or price, although we can surmise that in the first case we could be talking about a 1.6-litre engine, like the expected WRC, with an ECU adapted for a road version.
In this way, the Japanese brand would enter this market, competing directly with the Abarth 595, Ford Fiesta ST, SEAT Ibiza Cupra and the French Renault Clio RS, among others.
