Toyota Yaris GRMN, Competition DNA for Everyday Driving

Toyota has carried its competition experience over to the new Yaris GRMN. It is a limited edition of 400 units, highly sporty and fun for everyday use.

It is the first Toyota GRMN to be manufactured and sold in Europe. Moreover, it is a limited edition of 400 units priced at 29,900 euros, of which five are earmarked for the Spanish market. It is a high-performance version of the Toyota Yaris, which was developed at the legendary Nordschleife, at the Nürburgring (Germany). European teams handled the exterior and interior design and engine development, while Japanese engineers took charge of the chassis and braking system. Production takes place at Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF), in Valenciennes (France).

The new Yaris GRMN is only available in the three-door variant. Its exterior is distinguished by 17″ multi-spoke alloy wheels signed by BBS, a black rear wing, wing-type, and a exhaust line specifically designed for this Yaris with a central oval outlet. It also features exclusive-design bumpers, a large rear diffuser and a contrasting white finish with a black roof and decals in the competition colours of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing.

The interior also exudes sportiness with details that do not go unnoticed, such as the bucket seats designed by Toyota Boshoku, featuring the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing colours: black for the main surface, red and white for the upholstery stitching. It has a small-diameter leather-trimmed steering wheel taken from the Toyota GT86, aluminium sport pedals and a specific instrument cluster, as well as the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing logo on the seats, steering wheel, instrumentation, boot lid and brake calipers.

The new Yaris GRMN features a reinforced body structure with additional mounts, a front anti-roll bar of larger diameter and an extra brace between the front suspension towers. This ensures great chassis rigidity. The front suspension of the Yaris GRMN is MacPherson type and the rear is a torsion beam, with dampers developed by Sachs Performance. It also fits a Torsen-type mechanical limited-slip differential, which improves traction and high-speed response.

The engine powering this special edition of the Yaris is none other than the well-known 1.8 Dual VVT-iE with 212 CV, a four-cylinder inline unit with a rotor-type supercharger, from specialist Magnuson Eaton, supported by a water-cooled intercooler. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 230 km/h.
