Two concepts from Subaru announced for the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show

The Japanese brand arrives loaded with news at the most important event in the Asian motoring landscape. Subaru has announced two concepts for the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, two models that lay the foundations for future models within its product range, including a five-door hatchback and a hybrid crossover that could be the basis for a future new generation of the Forester.
Starting with the latter, the Subaru VIZIV Future (Vision for Innovation) is a concept that takes the form of a crossover and, according to the manufacturer, anticipates future production models equipped with autonomous driving systems and several new safety technologies. We have already seen the VIZIV 2013 and the VIZIV 2 2014 presented in the past, but this latest iteration appears more elaborate and faithful to a possible production version. Furthermore, if the Japanese firm takes it to the assembly line, it will probably increase rear load capacity to boost its practicality.

In terms of mechanics, the VIZIV Future Concept adopts a new next-generation hybrid propulsion system, which combines a turbocharged petrol engine, taken from the Subaru Levorg, with an improved electric motor mounted at the rear that enables an all-wheel-drive layout. According to Subaru, this system will allow the crossover to offer smooth, linear acceleration, as well as lower fuel consumption.
As for the Subaru 5-door Impreza, the Japanese firm defines it as a concept that serves as a design study for the next generation of the Impreza itself, a new generation that could arrive next year, especially considering that the current one has been on the market since 2011. Although for now there are only sketches of the exterior design, its image is very sporty, with very pronounced lines and clear features evolved from the design typical of the Subaru.
