It’s called Vazirani Ekonk and it is set to become the lightest supercar in the world. The new battery technology is going to make electric cars much lighter and safer while also offering greater range. With the Tesla Roadster in hibernation, many electric supercar manufacturers are drawing all the attention.

Everything points to the first deliveries of the Rimac Nevera starting to arrive at the end of this year, but the production version of the upcoming Tesla Roadster has not yet been unveiled. According to Elon Musk himself, the Tesla Roadster has been delayed until, probably, 2023. What’s going on? A revolutionary electric supercar has arrived that is going to make things very difficult for the rest.

Everything we know about the Vazirani Ekonk

The new electric supercar developed by Vazirani Automotive is called the Vazirani Ekonk. The name of the supercar maker may sound familiar, as Vazirani presented the Vazirani Shul, India’s first supercar, during the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

But while the Shul was an electric supercar designed to run on petrol, the Vazirani Ekonk is fully electric. Since the brand presented the Shul, Vazirani has been working on a unique battery technology that makes electric cars lighter and safer while increasing range. The new Vazirani Ekonk runs on two electric motors that generate a combined output of 722 horsepower. Vazirani claims the Ekonk is “India’s fastest electric supercar”, but no performance specifications have been revealed.

Offsetting the weight of electric motors and batteries is one of the biggest challenges supercar manufacturers face when optimising performance, but Vazirani says the Ekonk weighs just 737 kilograms. This results in an almost perfect power-to-weight ratio of one to one, so it should be a pleasure to drive. The manufacturer wanted to save as much weight as possible and achieve this seemingly incredibly light figure, so the Ekonk will take the form of a single-seater, meaning passengers won’t be able to accompany you on the journey.

The new Vazirani Ekonk will be presented at the end of this month. As a preview, we can enjoy the teaser image showing the bulging wheel arches and very thin light clusters at the rear.
