VEA 2018 Plan: new grants for buying electric, LPG and CNG cars
As a follow-up to the MOVEA Plan, the VEA Plan could be launched in June, with €16.6 million in grants for the purchase of Alternative Energy Vehicles: electric cars, hybrids and those running on LPG and CNG.
If everything goes according to plan, in June the new VEA 2018 Plan will be launched. A plan of grants for the purchase of alternative-energy vehicles that would continue the Movalt Plan launched last December, which exhausted its €20 million budget in just 24 hours. Let us recall that something similar happened with its predecessor, the Movea Plan. And it looks very likely that with the €16.6 million in funding that the new VEA Plan initially has, the same thing will happen again.
If it goes the way the previous plans did, the VEA Plan could be exhausted as soon as it is launched
It is logical that the conditions for claiming the VEA Plan grants will be the same as those of the Movalt Plan. Under the latter, these grants could range from €500 up to a maximum of €18,000, depending on the type of vehicle: whether it is a private car or a commercial vehicle, and whether it is an electric car, a plug-in hybrid PHEV or a gas vehicle, be it liquefied petroleum gas (Autogas – LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG).

The process for accessing these grants will also be similar: the user must apply through the dealerships adhered to the programme, which in the case of the previous plans also contributed €1,000, which for the purchase of an electric car or a PHEV was earmarked for installing a charging point. Now, however, under the VEA Plan it seems that charging points will have their own grants.

Final confirmation and details are still pending, but if you are thinking of buying an electric, hybrid or gas car, it is worth keeping an eye out… and being quick with your application. But if you miss out, or if you would rather not wait, do not worry: most brands offer discounts equivalent to those of the grant plans when these run out or while they are not in force.
