VinFast expands its vehicle lineup with a new pickup featuring a range extender
VinFast launches the production VF Wild: its first EREV pickup with more than 1,000 km of range, which will be available in the Vietnamese market with a starting price of 28,800 euros at current exchange rates.
VinFast has just unveiled the production version of the VF Wild pickup, a model first shown as a prototype in 2024. As expected, the first market it will reach is Vietnam. Although the prototype we saw in 2024 was a pure electric vehicle, the production version is, however, an extended-range electric vehicle: the first EREV in the Vietnamese manufacturer’s catalogue.
With a length of 5,376 mm, a width of 2,069 mm, a height of 1,873 mm and a wheelbase of 3,258 mm, this new model sits in the mid-size pickup segment, with dimensions comparable to those of the Ford Ranger, which is only sold with combustion or plug-in hybrid engines. It is also worth noting that the load bed measures 1,574 mm in length, 1,512 mm in width and 509 mm in height.

The VF Wild uses an electric motor producing 160 kW and 280 Nm, powered by a 46.4 kWh LFP battery. The petrol engine works solely as a generator: it recharges the battery on the move and is not connected to the wheels. The manufacturer has not detailed the displacement, engine type or fuel tank capacity, nor has it announced an all-wheel-drive variant.
Other specifications to consider
In the only configuration available — a single motor and two-wheel drive — the maximum payload is 750 kg. The battery accepts 6.6 kW AC charging and up to 90 kW DC. Going from 10% to 70% charge at a DC fast-charging point takes 32 minutes. According to the NEDC cycle, the electric range exceeds 250 km and the combined range surpasses 1,000 km.
This new pickup from the Vietnamese manufacturer also stands out for featuring V2L bidirectional charging, which allows it to power devices and electric tools. Equipment includes 18-inch steel wheels, side steps on the load bed, a flat floor, a 10-inch touchscreen and reclining rear seats. As in other VinFast models, there is no instrument cluster, a particularly striking absence in a work vehicle.

The price starts at 860 million dong — about 28,800 euros at current exchange rates — in black, red and white paint colours, and rises to 872 million — about 29,200 euros — in silver. Reservations in Vietnam open from 25 to 30 September, with a discount of 61 million dong (around 2,000 euros) for those who reserve within those dates. No export plans to other markets have been announced so far, but this is something that will probably happen in the more or less near future.
