Volkswagen Cross Polo

Volkswagen will present, in addition to the Polo GTI, at the next Geneva Motor Show the new generation of the Cross Polo, which is nothing more than an SUV version with a ride height raised by about 15 mm. This model will be available only in its 5-door version and with front-wheel drive.
Its exterior features a front skirt with exclusive design in anthracite colour with a large central air intake and fog lights integrated into the sides. It also has sporty black wheel arches and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The interior of the Cross Polo offers up to four different upholstery colours, and includes sport seats. The steering wheel features a perforated leather design with spokes finished in matt chrome, and the steering wheel and handbrake grip stitching in leather is the same colour as the interior upholstery. Also standard are adjustable exterior mirrors, a multifunction display ‘MFA’, and a tyre pressure monitoring indicator ‘RKA’. However, it comes with 214/40 tyres which, together with the lack of the electronic XDS differential lock, limit its SUV characteristics.

As for engines, it can be fitted with up to six different engines, offering power outputs from 70 to 105 CV. The entry-level petrol engine is a 70 CV 1.2-litre engine, followed by a 1.4-litre 85 CV, while the top version is a new 105 CV 1.2 TSI with which the Volkswagen Cross Polo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds (9.9 seconds), with a consumption of 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres and a top speed of 188 km/h.
In diesel, all models have an identical 1.6-litre displacement, but with different outputs ranging from 75 CV and 90 CV up to 105 CV; these three engines consume 4.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres. Finally, the Cross Polo can be fitted with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox for the 85 CV petrol and 90 CV diesel engines.
