It seems that a bad trend is sweeping through the offices of Volkswagen, namely the intention to offer rugged or off-road solutions, as they prefer to call them, for almost all the segments in which they are present.

Proof of this is the new Volkswagen Cross Touran, a model which, thanks to a suspension raised by 20 mm, reinforced bumpers and little else, gains some extra breathing room for city driving and, more importantly, a slightly different model with which to attract new buyers.

Truth be told, looking at the photos this model has little or nothing of an off-road vehicle, since the effective changes are few and elements such as 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 215 mm and 235 mm tyres for the front and rear axles respectively do little to help it get around in the countryside.

On the other hand, elements such as all-wheel drive are missing, which has not been included either as standard or as an option. At least it will be available with TDI and TSI engines ranging from 105 hp up to the 170 hp of the most powerful TDI engine.

If you are interested in this model, we can tell you that Volkswagen has not yet announced the prices at which it will arrive in Spain, although, to give you an idea, in Germany it will start from 27,700 euros.
