Volkswagen Electric Cars Industry SUV
Volkswagen presents the ID. CODE in China, the first concept car of its ID.UX family, which will bring up to 30 models
Volkswagen’s sub-brand, which is set to electrify the Chinese market, will present its first model, the ID.CODE, at the Auto China show

Volkswagen is a brand that has been somewhat slow to launch electric vehicles or electrified powertrains, so it has created a division aimed at offering solutions for all segments in the world’s largest car market: China. With the launch of the revolutionary ID. CODE at Auto China 2024, the first of the models that Volkswagen is about to present in collaboration with ID.UX, which will also feature level 4 autonomous driving from the German brand, the brand has not only presented a new design language, but has also set an unprecedented technological standard for its future models in the Asian country.

The ID. CODE is the first of this sub-brand and is a spectacular prototype of an electric SUV. It is not just a vehicle, it is a statement of intent with which the brand wants to appeal to a younger and bolder audience. But beyond its styling, the ID. CODE incorporates the latest technology: from lighting systems assisted by artificial intelligence to an interior that surprisingly blends the real and virtual worlds.
ID.UX: the new era of Volkswagen
With the presentation of its electric sub-brand ID.UX, the company is aiming directly at the hearts of younger customers in China and later in other markets. This new line of vehicles, headed by the impressive ID.UNYX, promises to combine the reliability and quality that characterize Volkswagen with a design and driving experience focused on lifestyle. With an emphasis on electrification and a progressive aesthetic, ID.UX aims to captivate a new generation of urban drivers.

30 models by 2030
Beyond the exciting concepts, Volkswagen is committed to a broad and sustainable product portfolio, but has its sights set on 2030, a date by which the company expects to introduce more than 30 new models in China, covering all segments and powertrain systems, from pure electric to plug-in hybrids.

Volkswagen has big plans for the Chinese market in the coming years. The ID. family will expand to reach 16 models by 2030, with five of them belonging to the new ID.UX sub-brand, scheduled to debut in 2027. The company is also making progress in electrifying its combustion models and is introducing new high-efficiency plug-in hybrids, with an electric range of over 100 kilometres, so we can imagine they will qualify for the DGT Label 0.

In addition, Volkswagen is strengthening its strategic alliances in China, such as its cooperation with XPENG, to integrate local platforms and develop new technologies that shorten development times, and which also promotes innovation in critical areas such as autonomous driving and connectivity. The Volkswagen China Technology Company is working on a China-specific electric platform, and at least four other electric models are expected to be built on the CMP platform from 2026 onwards.
