Scirocco Volkswagen Compact Range / versions
Volkswagen Scirocco GTS, the cousin of the Golf GTI

Volkswagen has announced the arrival of a new version within the Scirocco range, its coupé-styled compact based on the Golf.
This is the Scirocco GTS, which positions itself as the sportiest and most performance-oriented option in the range, second only to the all-powerful Scirocco R. It stands as an interesting alternative for all those who find the Golf GTI “not attractive enough”.
It should be noted that even before the facelift the model underwent a few months ago, a GTS version of the Scirocco already existed, with a similar approach. In that case it was a version with less developed styling add-ons, fitted with a 2.0 TSI engine producing 210 CV (there was also a version with the 1.4 TSI producing 160 CV). This time, the Scirocco GTS changes the game, showing “more muscle“.

Stylistically, the new GTS features lines along the bodywork which, combined with the exclusive-design alloy wheels, red brake calipers and gloss-black mirror caps, give it just the right touch of sportiness.
Inside, the GTS fits sports seats with exclusive upholstery, as well as gloss-black trim, a sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals, a gear lever knob shaped like a golf ball and the Composition Colour multimedia system. Additionally, options include, among others, bi-xenon headlights, a panoramic roof or leather upholstery.

It is on the mechanical side that the refreshed Scirocco GTS scores a good point, slightly increasing power compared with the previous version. This is achieved thanks to the adoption of the engine from the Golf GTI VII, a 2.0 TSI producing 220 CV. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed DSG automatic. Performance is very notable, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 244 km/h (246 km/h with the manual gearbox).
