Ford Skoda Toyota Volkswagen Industry
Volkswagen, the brand with the most vehicles produced in the world

The total production figures of the two global giants in car manufacturing came out very close. While Toyota produced 4 million vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of the year, Volkswagen has surpassed that figure and takes the lead with 4.4 million units produced.
These figures have exceeded the company’s own estimates, which had expected to become the world’s largest producer only by 2018. As for the other brands, the situation has tipped in favour of Ford, which has become third on the list with 3.7 million units, overtaking General Motors, which for many years was the leader and has settled for 3.6 million.
More specifically, Volkswagen has benefited from the success of the Polo and the Golf, with sales that have risen by more than 50%. Another brand that took off in an impressive way was Skoda, which has managed to climb an staggering 92%, thanks to the Fabia, in Germany alone. Evidently, German buyers looked for a slightly more affordable model, combined with the good reputation that the Volkswagen group has historically enjoyed in Europe, in addition to being German.
I believe it is also fair to mention that the government schemes offering incentives for car purchases had a great deal to do with these figures, mainly in Europe, bearing in mind that Volkswagen brings together very popular brands such as Audi or the Skoda itself.
