Volkswagen will unveil a new pick-up-shaped concept car that promises to revolutionise the segment

Volkswagen wants to keep betting on the pick-up segment, as demonstrated by this new concept car that will be unveiled in São Paulo in a few days.

Within the automotive sector, we can see how some segments that once enjoyed strong success are beginning to crumble, but firms such as Volkswagen continue to show that they still have a long life ahead. The Wolfsburg company is ready to continue with the pick-up segment, a type of vehicle capable of delivering high performance off the tarmac combined with surprising load capacity. However, the arrival of SUVs and other types of vehicle has been dismantling the world of pick-ups, yet Volkswagen shows its desire to keep betting on this segment not only with the Amarok, but also with a new concept car that will be unveiled very soon.

The German firm is betting on a range of models capable of adapting to current standards and needs but, at the same time, keeping firmly to the traditionalist spirit that characterises it. Within this framework fall vehicles such as saloons or the aforementioned pick-ups, which will be adapted by Volkswagen to the demands of contemporary consumers and their new tastes.

It will be in São Paulo where this prototype is unveiled, promising a revolution within the sector it belongs to. It is no surprise that Volkswagen has chosen Brazil to premiere its pick-up in concept car form, as it is one of the most powerful markets for the German firm, where its range of vehicles enjoys strong success that will be further enriched by the appearance of this new base for a future model.

For now, the brand has provided little data, but we know that the model derived from this innovative concept car will be positioned directly below the Amarok. At the same time, Volkswagen has confirmed that it has used the new MQB platform, which underpins several of the firm’s SUVs such as the Tiguan; in this way, German engineers have managed to offer a perfect combination between the pick-up concept and the advantages of SUVs.

Volkswagen has wanted to treat us to a teaser in which the rear and side of this prototype can be seen in great detail. We glimpse a series of features that quickly lead us to associate it with the design language the firm has been using in its latest creations, and which gives this concept car a more modern and current look than that of its bigger sibling, the Amarok.

On 7 November, Volkswagen will reveal this vehicle for the first time, which will not differ much from the final appearance of the production model. In this way, the German firm is moving more forcefully into the pick-up segment, with the aim of keeping it alive and introducing numerous innovations with it that will revolutionise the sector.
