Volvo makes access to Google Assistant easier and adds YouTube to its multimedia offering
The brand has begun incorporating the Google Assistant into the multimedia system of its models, so all its apps and services will be available

Connectivity is fundamental for many car users today. In fact, the level of internet connection and the services offered through it are a deciding factor for many buyers. Volvo knows this, and that is why it has taken a further step in integrating Google Assistant systems into the brand’s models.
With this integration of the Google Assistant, the vehicle will be fully integrated into these services. This means there will be greater possibility of interacting with the information and entertainment system and even remotely controlling various parameters using Google’s technology.

More remote functions
The incorporation of this system into Volvo models will provide access to all Android functions for users of the brand’s native app and for devices connected to Google in regions where this option is available. Through the Google Assistant, they will be able to check data on the vehicle’s status, such as battery charge level, and even lock and unlock the doors. This will be done with a double-confirmation system to ensure safety.
This integration will reach all recent Volvo models gradually over the coming months. And these Google Assistant functions will not be the only ones coming to the brand’s cars.

YouTube, also on Volvo
The video platform YouTube will also be included in Volvo models, although with limitations. It is not safe to play videos while driving. This has been considered by other brands, such as Tesla, which has backtracked on including video games for on-board entertainment. Thus, the platform will only work when the car is stationary.
The streaming video playback function will be possible when stopped while charging the battery, while waiting for children at the school gate, or during rest stops on journeys, for example. To improve the viewing experience, Volvo vehicles will continue to feature a high-quality audio system so occupants can enjoy their journeys and these added experiences.
Along with YouTube, and thanks to the integration of Google services, users of Volvo will be able to download other apps such as navigation apps like Sygic and Flitsmeister, charging apps like Chargepoint and Plugshare, and parking apps like SpotHero and ParkWhiz, where available.
This is important, because not all countries have all services active, so users should check what is available to them. That said, progress in this area is moving very fast, and a large number of these apps should be available soon.
