Vuhl 05RR, the Mexican supercar heading to Europe to make its mark

Two years after its debut at the Goodwood Festival and following its appearance in a video game, the Mexican supercar Vuhl 05 RR is going on sale

The Vuhl 05RR may not be unfamiliar to you, as it is a model that could be seen in the video game Forza Motorsport 7. Yes, the Mexican supercar made its debut two years ago at a major British event, where it was shown for the first time, but at that point it never reached the production line. We have had to wait until 2019 to see the model on the market, now out of the virtual world. From these days on, it will start being sold in Europe and America, although the launch price has not been made public.

This spectacular model is road-legal, and it is expected to be a car that breaks with everything we expect from a production model for everyday use. Its power-to-weight ratio even surpasses that of other high-performance models such as the Bugatti Veyron. This is not the first model from this brand, as it previously launched the Vuhl 05 on the market, on which this supercar is based. Efforts have been made to make it more efficient and to deliver greater performance than its predecessor, so the figures are quite impressive.

To begin with, it weighs 65 kg less than the Vuhl 05, coming in at just 660 kg. The output of its 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine reaches 390 CV, meaning the power-to-weight ratio is 600 CV per tonne. The peak torque this powertrain delivers is 500 Nm, so these figures are considerably higher than those of its predecessor. It is no surprise to see an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 255 km/h.

The engine layout guarantees a centre of gravity 50 mm lower than the previous model, and the clutch and six-speed sequential gearbox send engine power to the rear axle. The carbon-fibre wheels reduce rotational inertia and make the car easier to drive. And if all this still doesn’t seem sporty enough, the brand offers the option of replacing the suspension and tyres with more performance-oriented ones.

On the outside, besides its bold and sporty design, it stands out for a one-piece spoiler and a large diffuser, which help it achieve outstanding grip. The interior has also seen changes, although these have not yet been made public and the brand is keeping them in reserve for a little later. If you want to know about them, you can already reserve one and you will have it before anyone else. What do you think of this Mexican supercar?
