We already know the new BMW Series 8, but which rivals will it face in the market?

The new BMW Series 8 has just been unveiled and arrives as one of the most talked-about sports cars of the moment, but today we will take a brief look at its direct rivals.

The arrival of a new vehicle on the market is no simple task, since it must carve out a place among models that have been established for longer. However, some vehicles arrive with considerable momentum to claim the top spot in the market, something the new BMW Series 8 will achieve with its legacy. Let us recall that this new flagship of the German brand rises from its previous generation to break every mould and continue its great success. Even so, the new BMW Series 8 will face several rivals, and today we will take a brief review of these contenders for the title.

The BMW Series 8 sits directly in the segment of sports GTs, where comfort and sportiness are combined. These two qualities give the German coupé performance worthy of a supercar and pair them with a high level of comfort for long journeys. However, the Series 8 is not the only current model with these qualities, but it stands out as the newcomer in the segment and for offering far more advanced and up-to-date technology, as well as its design.

Mercedes S-Class Coupé: the archrival of the Series 8

The star brand has always enjoyed great renown for working in this segment, since throughout its history and evolution we have seen several GTs join its range

. The Mercedes S-Class Coupé is described as the archrival of the new BMW Series 8,

since both compete on performance, price and comfort.

The Mercedes coupé has been on the market longer, which has given it more experience and considerable room for improvement, but the new BMW Series 8 arrives as a completely renewed and fresh product. This will give it a clear advantage alongside the new design language the brand has used to conceive this luxury coupé.

However, the Mercedes S-Class will ensure the battle is very close, since its broad arsenal of technology and its wide range of powertrains make it a rival worth admiring. At the same time, the star brand has given its flagship a timeless design, which has allowed it to age very well.

Lexus LC 500: where efficiency, comfort and sportiness shake hands

Lexus has also set out to show that it can stand up to the German titans, something it achieves both with its more modest models and its most luxurious creations

. In this last category we find, among others, the LC 500, a sports car that has

characteristics similar to the new BMW Series 8 but has chosen to follow its own path.

The LC 500 presents a more sporty attitude, yet it never gives up comfort or exclusivity. Up to four passengers can travel in it, and the comfort on board this Japanese supercar is exceptional, as is its engine. The LC 500 hides inside a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 capable of delivering 477 CV of power and 540 Nm of torque.

In this way, the Japanese brand sits directly in the GT segment, but with an overwhelming personality. The LC 500 manages to combine sportiness with luxury perfectly and can put anyone who dares cross its path under pressure.

Bentley Continental GT: exclusivity made into a car

From England comes the new Bentley Continental GT which, as its name suggests, is presented as the GT par excellence

. Its philosophy is directly aimed at challenging the most luxurious and exclusive models in its segment and, at the same time, the flagship of Bentley has characteristics

that allow it to present itself as one of the toughest rivals.

The British brand has ensured that in this latest generation of the Continental GT its main traits have been accentuated to unexplored levels, making it one of the most complete GTs in the world. It also achieves this with its extraordinary engine, a supercharged 6.0-litre W12 capable of producing more than 600 CV of power, making it one of the fastest in the segment while the future M8 has yet to make its debut.

However, the BMW Series 8 has something to say about this and will try by every possible means to surpass all its rivals and become the king of its segment. The German brand has gone all out with its new model, which arrives with many credentials to be a worthy rival for everyone present, since the Series 8 will provide them with a battle worth admiring.
