Will this Polestar 1 become a convertible reality? X-Tomi Design makes our mouths water
Designer X-Tomi shows us how the Polestar 1 could look as a convertible, something that is not currently in the brand’s plans

With the launch of the Polestar 1, the high-performance electrified car maker that has recently emancipated itself from Volvo has shown it can achieve great things.
The sporty hybrid coupé it unveiled a few days ago is the first proof of this, but this version is only the beginning. The Swedish brand plans to launch new models, though it has yet to reveal many details. But before that, we can’t help wondering what other forms its first commercial model could take. The Polestar 1 debuted as a coupé, but could it offer a convertible version?

A few days ago, designer X-Tomi anticipated what the Polestar 1 could look like as a shooting brake (the image heading this article), a configuration that is unlikely to reach the market given the philosophy of the Swedish brand. Now, the artist has presented a rendering that is far more interesting: a convertible version of the hybrid saloon that, at the very least, looks appealing to us.
Although Sweden is not the most suitable country for driving a convertible because of its low temperatures all year round, Volvo has had several convertibles over its history that have performed remarkably well. Among them are the convertible versions of the Volvo C70 and the Saab 9-3, not to mention all the models Koenigsegg produces (another brand based in the Nordic country).
Logically, there are no facts supporting the arrival of a convertible in the Polestar range, but we can’t help thinking it would be a really interesting variant given the attractions this model already has: a hybrid powertrain and a construction with a high percentage of carbon fibre.
