Xiaomi once again raises its expected production volume for the SU7 for 2024

Xiaomi believes it can produce 20,000 additional units of the SU7, after announcing just a few days ago that it would double the figure initially planned.

The Chinese manufacturer has once again raised its production target for this year for its first electric car, from the 100,000 units announced just ten days ago, to 120,000. Xiaomi confirmed this 20 percent increase during a conference call with Asian media. The company has also committed to delivering at least 100,000 of the 120,000 SU7 units produced before the end of the year.

Xiaomi recently announced that, starting in June, it intends to produce the SU7 on two shifts at its Beijing plant. In this way, at least 10,000 vehicles will leave the assembly line each month. However, to reach its target of 120,000 vehicles produced in 2024, the Chinese manufacturer is compelled to increase production even further, since those 10,000 units were not reached in the preceding months.

The SU7 officially went on sale in the Chinese market on March 28, with prices starting at 27,600 euros at the current exchange rate. The company delivered the first units a few days later, after having generated great anticipation. The SU7 also became the main attraction at the Beijing Auto Show held at the end of April, with long queues of visitors eager to see it up close at the brand’s stand.

Xiaomi moves forward with confidence

The launch of the SU7 has marked a significant milestone for Xiaomi, which until recently was known mainly for its consumer electronics products. The Chinese manufacturer’s first foray into the automotive sector is proving a success that could come to determine the company’s future. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that production capacity will be a key factor in making this truly the case.

Xiaomi Su7 Side

If Xiaomi really manages to meet its production and delivery targets for the SU7 in 2024, the company will not only consolidate its position in the electric vehicle market, but will also demonstrate its ability to diversify its products and adapt to new industries.
