Xiaomi SU7 production surpasses 10,000 units in just over a month
Few companies, if any, other than Xiaomi are able to set the records that the Chinese brand is achieving in its early days in the automotive sector
It was just over a month ago that the Chinese manufacturer, better known for its mobile phones than for its experience in the automotive sector, officially began sales of the SU7, its first electric vehicle. In any case, that has been more than enough time for the company to produce over 10,000 units, as it has just announced.
Xiaomi’s short history in the sector is, however, decorated with a good number of record-breaking figures. After the SU7 was unveiled, the Chinese manufacturer needed just 27 minutes to accumulate more than 50,000 reservations for its new electric saloon. Based on the company’s current production capacity, that would mean roughly seven months of waiting until delivery of the new vehicle for everyone who also placed a reservation after those first 27 minutes.

Today, according to Chinese media, the total number of registered SU7 reservations now stands above 75,000. The strong reception the SU7 is receiving has forced Xiaomi to considerably scale up production in record time, with the aim of responding to the large number of customers eager to also have an SU7 on the Chinese market. In this way, the company is confident that after the first year of SU7 sales, cumulative production of this model will approach the iconic figure of 100,000 units.
Xiaomi’s takeoff as a carmaker is marking a before and after
The Chinese manufacturer can also add other achievements to its record, not just having produced 10,000 SU7 units in exactly 32 days. Xiaomi has also managed to deliver 5,781 units of its new electric saloon on the Chinese market during this time, and it is also scaling up production so that the figure announced now will increase significantly in the future. It should also be noted that the SU7 is currently on sale only in the Chinese market, although given the strong reception this model is getting, everything points to it reaching new markets in the not-too-distant future.
