Zeekr hints at a family variant of its 007 electric saloon

In China, the most affordable version of the Zeekr 007 costs a little under 29 thousand euros at current exchange rates. This gives us a very good idea of where the price of this family variant should sit.

During these first days of the year, all media attention in the automotive world is focused on CES 2025, currently taking place in Las Vegas. It is therefore odd that Zeekr has chosen precisely this moment to leak on social media an image of what appears to be its next model to reach the Chinese market. We are talking about the Zeekr 7GT, the family variant of the brand’s 007 electric saloon.

Although Zeekr has not revealed specific details about this new model, it seems clear that the 7GT is aimed at all those interested in the 007 saloon, but who find a limitation in the interior space of the latter.

The 7GT is expected to retain the SEA platform, and should also include an 800V architecture, as well as a new battery pack developed by the Chinese manufacturer itself under the name Golden, whose main feature is its surprising charging capability. Zeekr claims that only 12 minutes are needed to increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent.

There are not many family electric models to be found on the market

The Zeekr 7GT may seem like a risky bet by the Chinese manufacturer, given the type of vehicle in question. However, there are some specific markets where demand for family electric vehicles is higher than usual, and where the 7GT should sell very well.

In China, the 7GT will compete directly with the NIO ET5 Touring, a model that enjoys great acceptance in that market. In Europe, meanwhile, the 7GT should face rivals of the calibre of the BMW i5 Touring. It is not yet clear, however, whether the 7GT will leave the Chinese market, but it seems logical to think that sooner or later it will reach at least Europe, where demand should be quite high.
