Zeekr updates the 001 with a new 900-volt architecture

Zeekr, the premium vehicle brand of the Geely group, has just unveiled an updated version of its flagship 001. This model, which had already undergone a significant upgrade last year when it moved from a 400-volt to an 800-volt architecture, now takes another leap to 900 volts, with the gains in efficiency and charging power that this entails.

Thanks to this new 900-volt architecture, the updated Zeekr 001 reaches ultra-fast charging rates of up to 12C with the Zeekr Golden battery pack, a 95 kWh capacity pack developed in-house by the brand. It is now possible to take the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in just seven minutes, a record time for the industry.

In addition, the Zeekr 001 can also be fitted with CATL’s Qilin battery pack, with a capacity of 103 kWh, supporting in this case a 6C charge rate and taking the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in ten minutes. This version positions the model as a benchmark in the electric vehicle market in terms of charging efficiency.

As for range, with the Zeekr Golden battery pack the 001 can travel up to 710 kilometres on a single charge under the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle. With the CATL Qilin battery pack, range increases to 810 kilometres, depending on the chosen configuration.

Price on the Chinese market

The Zeekr 001 is available in China from 269,800 yuan -just over 32,000 euros at the current exchange rate- and is offered in four versions. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version delivers 370 kW of power and accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in five seconds. The all-wheel-drive version is also worth noting, which raises the combined output of its electric motors to 680 kW, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.83 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h.

The interior stands out for the level of luxury and technology it offers. It includes a glass panoramic roof, a 15.05-inch central screen and a 8.8-inch driver’s instrument cluster. It also features a 7.1-channel sound system for the best audio experience inside the cabin. In terms of safety and driver assistance, the Zeekr 001 incorporates the G-Pilot H7 system, which uses 31 sensors, including LiDAR technology, to provide advanced autonomous driving functions.

Will it also come to Europe?

The Zeekr 001 has been available in some European markets since 2023. Although it has not yet been confirmed whether this updated version will reach the continent in the near future, it is expected that it will. With deliveries of the updated 001 already under way in China, this model strengthens Zeekr’s position in the global electric mobility market.
