Audi A4 35 TFSI 150 CV test, 5 key points for an ECO sedan
We tested the Audi A4 in its entry-level petrol variant, called 35 TFSI with 150 CV and a sporty look thanks to the Black Line Edition trim.

However much the trends favor SUVs, and sedans are gradually making way in the ranges for other models, interesting offerings still sell, coming from the long-standing expertise in doing things well. And I say long-standing because the Audi A4 we are analyzing is a model that has been on the market for years, yet it has not stopped being interesting.
In our test, we want to make a 5-key-point analysis of this sedan, so you can get to know in depth a striking car that, moreover, stands out for the exterior configuration of our test unit with the Black Line Edition trim. Without further ado, we begin the analysis of the Audi A4 35 TFSI 150 CV S Tronic, or in other words, the entry version of the Audi A4 range.
1. Sporty design with entry-level engine

Our test unit stands out for its sportiness, since choosing the entry-level petrol engine does not mean giving up a sporty style, and Audi reminds us of this with this configuration in the Black Line Edition trim (which adds black exterior details to the S Line trim) and optional Audi Sport wheels.
I was very surprised that the twin rear exhaust outlets are “real“, now that many brands have us used to outlets that are merely decorative, so point for Audi.
Finally, the exterior color, halfway between white and blue, means our Audi A4 does not go unnoticed anywhere, despite, as I said, being a well-known vehicle with a long history.
2. Spacious interior with quality in the fit and finish

Behind the wheel of the Audi A4 35 TFSI we find sporty seats -typical of the S Line trim- in leather, which hold the body perfectly and provide a lot of interior comfort. That said, if you have the choice, it is better that they are not full leather (they are cold in winter and very hot in summer, but that is personal opinion).
The driving position is comfortable, everything is in its place, with correct ergonomics, and although it has the multimedia systems usual for the brand, the menus are easy and intuitive. The rear seats have enough space for feet and head, are comfortable and have air vents.

The quality of the finishes is in line with the model and segment, fortunately it has not been “invaded” by glossy plastics, and the “piano black” finish is limited to the center console, while maintaining notable finishes in the rest of the areas.
3. 150 CV engine, with ECO label

The petrol engine chosen for the entry point of the range is a four-cylinder turbo 2.0, which in its entry variant offers 150 CV. Thanks to micro-hybridization, it incorporates a small electric motor and a battery, which helps it earn the ECO label.

It is an engine that is extremely smooth in every respect, both in acceleration and when cruising at calm speeds. It is not sporty, but it is sufficient for everyday use. Its most notable feature: smoothness.
That said, micro-hybridization does not manage to reduce consumption figures much, which are somewhat high but understandable for a 2.0 petrol engine. On our road test route, the lowest we achieved was 6.9 liters per 100 km, while in mixed road/city driving the figure rises to 7.5 liters per 100 km.
In urban driving, it is easy to reach 10 liters per 100 km; this may seem high, but it is understandable given the displacement of the engine.
4. Stable: prepared for more power

Although this Audi A4 35 TFSI is the entry version, its dynamic behavior is surprising. Our unit had the sporty running gear, which is noticeable on the road. Although its engine does not seek sportiness, it is a car with noble, predictable reactions on winding roads or mountain passes and stable on the motorway.
It has several driving modes, ranging from Comfort (which adjusts the suspension for greater travel and better absorption of bumps) to Dynamic (with greater firmness).
5. Price and personal opinion of the Audi A4 35 TFSI 150 CV S Tronic

Concluding this analysis of the Audi A4 in its entry version, the combination of a sporty trim with an entry-level engine caught my attention. Since the 150 CV engine is more than enough for most drivers, and at the same time, you do not give up a sporty and striking look.
The engine is smooth but consumption is high, even with the ECO label. It stands out for its equipment, since it comes quite complete as standard and there is no long list of extras. It is available from 47,480 euros, and with the Black Line Edition trim it starts at 51,180 euros (with practically everything important as standard).

Among the options, I recommend the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 3D sound (1,475 euros), which is well worth it, unlike the Audi Sound System, which barely improves on the original sound setup. I also recommend not equipping the leather seats, because of the typical thermal drawbacks of leather.
