Alpha JAX: the off-roader with retro looks and a modern heart

The brand that already introduced us to the ACE now shows an SUV version of that model, with the same electric traction system and a very retro look.

Alpha Jax Prototipo Electrico (4)

A few months ago we had the chance to see the Alpha ACE, an electric car with a retro look that caught the eye and gave a very pleasant and daring image. Now, the same company brings us its new proposal, the Alpha JAX, which has a lot in common with that earlier model, but in an off-road version. The name is an acronym for Junior All-Terrain Crossover, which already shows its intentions.

This model is still a prototype, but it is expected to become a reality very soon. Its exterior is entirely retro, just like the ACE, taking us back several decades. The interior is completely different, and the electric traction technology is present beneath that vintage bodywork.

Retro image and futuristic heart

The Alpha JAX is built on the same platform as its sibling, which means it has the same electric traction system. It is powered by a 75 kWh battery, which allows it to reach a range of 402 kilometers, a figure quite suited to today’s needs.

Its look features a horizontal grille and round headlights, which reinforce that old-fashioned appearance. The doors have hidden handles and a suicide-door design, so the rear doors are hinged at the rear. At the back it wears a spoiler and small, discreet lights.

Overall it has a robust and dynamic appearance, thanks to large wheel arches and wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches. It measures 4.56 metres long and 1.93 metres wide, which allows four people to travel comfortably inside.

Several configurations and options available to the buyer

The company intends to equip the Alpha JAX with different front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. In addition, it is known that the images correspond to the prototype and that the production version, if it finally arrives, will not include these add-ons. They will, however, be available to purchase as optional extras.

The first units are planned for 2023, and the price of this model will be 35,000 euros before taxes. Will we finally see it on the market?
