Aston Martin Valhalla, that is what the AM-RB 003 will definitively be called

Continuing with names drawn from Norse mythology, the AM-RB 003 is christened

Aston Martin Valhalla

.
We said it a few months ago: the Aston Martin AM-RB 003 would follow in the footsteps of the Valkyrie, the hypercar from the Gaydon team, and its commercial name would also honour Odin, with Valhalla.

It is a name that, translated from Old Norse, means “the hall of the slain,” and it draws on the epic of battle and the mysticism between the divine and the afterlife.

But far from the gloomy side, the Aston Martin Valhalla is meant to make those who drive it feel very alive, or to those lucky enough to be among the only 500 units to be produced, since this car promises intense emotions.

The result of a masterful combination of mechanics and aerodynamics

To begin with, we know this is the third Aston Martin car with a V6 engine in the mid-rear position, supported by an electric system, meaning it will be a hybrid sports car. A petrol engine will be fitted to a carbon fibre chassis, a material that will also be used for the bodywork.

A vehicle developed jointly with Red Bull’s advanced technology department, Red Bull Advanced Technologies, which, together with the legendary Adrian Newey, will bring the best of their competition and aerodynamics experience.

Thanks to maximum efficiency in its battle with and use of the air, against which the Valhalla will fight, we could be looking at a car just one step below the Valkyrie, even though its power is significantly lower than the next flagship of all the Aston Martin ever built.

Compared with the more than 1,000 CV of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, extracted from the Cosworth-derived V12 heart, the smaller “brother” could offer power close to 720 CV.

Production of this car will begin at the end of 2021, the year the WEC version of the Valkyrie debuts and the centenary of the brand’s first participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The price Aston Martin will ask for the Valhalla is unknown, but what is clear is that, with only half a thousand units built and the investment in developing and building this supercar, it will not be cheap.

We still expect “one more V”

As the manufacturer itself indicates, the new Aston Martin Valhalla joins the group of select cars whose nomenclature begins with V, such as the Vantage, Vanquish, Valkyrie… and now Valhalla.

And now that we can officially give this new high-performance car its name, after the V of Valkyrie and the V of Valhalla, we await the definitive name with which we will see the third member of this very special line-up.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Concept, presented in March during the last Geneva Motor Show, offered more than an intention or a prototype: it was the final component of this trio of high-performance supercars of the future from Aston Martin.
