Audi makes parking a caravan easier
A new feature has been added to Audi’s MMI electronic driver-assistance system: caravan parking assistance, which makes the manoeuvre considerably easier.

Most drivers don’t often find themselves having to reverse-park with a caravan or other trailer attached to the car. But should the moment ever “come”, Audi has the solution.
This caravan parking assistance is part of the MMI (Man Machine Interface), an electronic driving-aid system that Audi fits to many of its models. With this feature, the driver only operates a small wheel manually, which is electronically linked to the steering; instead of wrestling with the steering wheel and turning in the opposite direction to where we want the caravan to go in reverse (a real headache for anyone not used to it), we simply turn the control wheel in the normal sense and the steering takes care of the rest automatically.
According to Road and Track, Audi will fit this feature to the MMI across all its vehicles within a few years. I can imagine other applications where this system would be very useful. The first candidates that come to mind are drivers of commercial vehicles and trucks with trailers, whose work would be made much easier by a gadget like this.
