Audi Q6, the new large SUV presented only for China

The four-ring brand adds the new Audi Q6 to its complete SUV range, an SUV larger than the Q7, which for the time being will only be offered in the Chinese market

Just as we have seen with other brands, Audi has just presented a new model that will only be sold in the Chinese market, since it is a large combustion SUV which, due to emissions regulations, has no place in markets such as Europe, unlike in the Asian country.

Its name? Audi Q6. A designation that, despite having a lower number than some of its siblings in the range, does not mean it is smaller: with its 5,099 millimetres in length, 2,014 millimetres in width and 1,784 millimetres in height, it is positioned above the Q7.

Just like the Ford Mondeo 2022 that we showed you at the beginning of the year, the new Audi Q6 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, as we have already mentioned, and it also debuts a completely new design approach with many elements never before seen on the German brand.

Its design features

Starting with the front, the new Audi Q6 features a large grille of a very modern and fairly tall design, alongside light units in LED technology joined by a thin LED line that acts as daytime running light. On each side of the grille, the SUV has two brake cooling intakes and the quattro badge just below its registration plate.

If we turn 90 degrees, the 2,980-millimetre wheelbase and its large overhangs make us aware of the dimensions of this behemoth, with clean, carefully crafted shapes along its bodywork and 21-inch alloy wheels which, given their size, do not feel like they are that size.

At the rear, the Q6 has horizontal rear light clusters that emphasise its width and a fairly robust bumper that brings out its more SUV-like side, as its central section features a body-coloured plastic insert.

Generous interior space and plenty of technology

Inside, the Q6’s interior space is one of its strong points, as an option is also offered to choose between a six-seat variant and a seven-seat one.

As for its technological equipment, it features a fully digital instrument cluster of 12.3 inches, a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and an auxiliary 8.6-inch screen for controlling the climate control, among other functions.

Under its bonnet, the entry-level engine in the range is the four-cylinder 2.0-litre TFSI unit, producing 265 CV and 400 Nm of peak torque. The other option is a six-cylinder 2.5 TFSI engine producing 299 CV and 500 Nm of torque, both paired with the quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The price from which this SUV will go on sale is around 72,000 euros at current exchange rates, rising to around 94,000 euros for the top-of-the-range variant.
