Audi wants to further enhance the sporting side of its vehicles, and the best way to start is with the second generation of the R8. The next generation of the Audi R8 will keep proportions similar to the current model, while enhancing the dynamic style of a model with plenty of potential.

The grille will take on more prominence, while the headlights will be Full LED, giving designers the freedom of design that this technology offers. A twin diffuser is also expected at the rear, as well as more aggressive air intakes.

Inside, the brand of the four rings has prepared a whole array of technological novelties which, according to sources at Auto Express, will range from a digital instrument cluster to a rear-view mirror made up of cameras and screens. In addition, the navigation and infotainment system will evolve to accommodate new functions and applications typical of Audi Connect.

In the engine range, Audi plans to slightly modify the current powerplants, giving them extra power combined with lower emissions and more moderate consumption. In this way, the 4.2 V8 will exceed 450 CV and the 5.2 V10 will approach 600 CV. Impressive figures which, together with the expected weight reduction of the whole car, will make the R8 a true benchmark in the segment.

Speaking of weight reduction, to achieve it Audi will use more carbon fibre (up to 20% more) and reinforced plastics for certain bodywork parts such as the bumpers, wings, bonnet and door panels.
