Audi R8 LMX: the most extreme of Audi

Audi has launched today what will become the most powerful and high-performance R8 ever built by the brand with the four rings.
Its commercial name is R8 LMX, and production will be limited to just 99 units, with a price exceeding 200,000 €.
The R8 LMX stands out from its siblings in the range thanks to its “Ara Blue” paint in a matte finish. It also debuts 19-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive design, painted in anthracite tones. In the interior, there are also details in Alcantara, carbon fibre, and premium-quality leather.

One of the most striking features of this R8 is that it is equipped, for the first time on a production vehicle, with laser headlights. After the “battle” that Audi and BMW have waged over recent months, and after the latter announced that its i8 would become the first vehicle to feature laser headlights, Audi has stolen a march at the last moment.
This lighting system is remarkably intelligent: from 60 km/h onwards, the laser optics begin to project a very powerful beam with a whitish tone equivalent to a colour temperature of 5,500 Kelvin on the colour scale.

Thanks to a camera, the system is able to detect oncoming traffic, adapting the light beam and avoiding the space through which the oncoming vehicle will pass, eliminating any possibility of dazzling.
This especially special R8 also features a more advanced version of the 5.2 V10. On this occasion, power reaches 570 CV, with performance that takes your breath away. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h. Both quattro all-wheel drive and the S-Tronic dual-clutch 7-speed transmission are standard.
