Audi RS Q3 10 years edition: the most sporty SUV in a limited and numbered special edition

Audi launches a special edition of the RS Q3 limited to 55 units, celebrating 10 years since the launch of the sporty SUV, distinguished by special decoration and exclusive equipment.

Audi celebrates in grand style the tenth anniversary of the market launch of the first generation of the RS Q3, which was presented in 2013 and was even manufactured in Spain. And it does so with this “10 years edition” special series, limited to 555 units worldwide, and available both for the RS Q3 and the RS Sportback. It will arrive in Spain at the end of the year, although the price has not yet been revealed.

A more sporty and exclusive design

Externally, the RS Q3 10 years edition is distinguished, above all, by its 21-inch alloy wheels with six double spokes, fitted with 255/35 tyres, compared to the 255/40-20 fitted to the standard model. Behind them, a clear statement of intent: carbon-ceramic brake discs as standard for the front axle, an option that, on its own, already costs almost 7,000 euros on the RS Q3. In the special edition, as an exclusive detail, the brake calipers are polished and finished in black.

Black also plays a leading role in numerous bodywork elements, such as the mirror housings, the roof and window frame, the slats of the front spoiler, the rear diffuser insert, or the grille surrounds and the model badges. For the bodywork you can choose between two colours: Rocío Silver, which is added to the RS Q3 range for the first time, and an exclusive metallic grey, which will not reach Spain. As standard, the headlights are Matrix LED, with darkened housings.

Inside, the most relevant features are the RS bucket seats, which do not appear in the RS Q3’s options catalogue, as they are exclusive to this edition. They are upholstered in a combination of leather and Dinamica microfibre, with copper-coloured contrast stitching that also appears in other areas of the cabin, such as the dashboard, armrests, steering wheel and floor mats. Other exclusive details are the carbon-look finish of the MMI touch with a 10.1-inch screen that displays an inscription with the vehicle’s serial number, or the LED door lighting that projects a red 3D diamond onto the floor.

2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine: a safe bet

There are no changes under the bonnet; but nor are they needed. With the 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine, which retains its figures of 294 kW (400 CV) of power and 480 Nm of maximum torque, this RS Q3 offers almost 30% more power than the first-generation RS Q3, which had 228 kW (310 CV). For this special edition, Audi raises the standard top speed limiter by 30 km/h, reaching 280 km/h. Of course, the drive is all-wheel, as in all RS models Audi.

The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is covered in 4.5 seconds, a figure that is still impressive, although the new generation of electric cars, with motors that deliver a lot of torque from practically zero revs, is beginning to change the benchmarks for what counts as a fast car off the line. But for now, that’s where it stands.
