Audi RS3 Sedan: only for the US, shows the range's restyling

Audi has spent many years trying to make its mark on the North American market, offering high-quality products with a touch of sportiness and dynamism.

The RS family is one of the brand’s best-known and most successful, and that is why Audi has decided to launch a model specifically for the region, the RS3 Sedan.

The A3, the quintessential compact from the four-ring firm, has always had sporty versions since its first generation. Many of us still remember the S3, in that chicken-yellow shade, with its 1.8T engine that produced 225 CV. In the second generation of the A3 the sporty range expanded with the arrival of the S3 and RS3, the latter with a five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI and more than 300 CV.

The compact A3 has offered sporty versions in all of its generations

In the current generation of the A3 the sporty range is more extensive than ever, since in addition to the S3 in hatchback, sedan and cabriolet versions, the revamped RS3 is offered with more power than ever and surprising performance thanks to a revised version of the 2.5 TFSI which, in this third generation, rises to 367 CV.

It seems that in the American market compact models do not yet enjoy the acceptance needed to reach a sales volume sufficiently profitable for brands, so Audi has decided to build a sedan version of the RS3 specifically for this territory. The result can be seen in the two photographs that illustrate this article.

This version is initially planned only for the North American market

Although they are of low quality, they are enough to see that the look of this model is absolutely impressive, which at this point does not surprise us, since every RS from Audi offers a very carefully crafted design in which sportiness is plain to see, something welcome in a brand where sobriety is the dominant note.

The mechanical side is expected not to differ from the RS3 Hatchback we know in Europe, although that is not what interests us most about this sedan variant. If you look closely at the nose, you will see it is slightly different from that of the European RS3. This is due to the RS3 Sedan already featuring the A3 range’s restyling.

We are talking about a light restyling that will reach the rest of the range in the coming months, characterised by a more aggressive and angular front end, similar to that of the new A4. The light clusters are sharper, and the grille is even more polygonal. No major changes are expected inside, apart from new steering wheels, an improved multimedia system and a fully digital instrument panel, the already familiar Audi Digital Cockpit.
