Audi RS7-R: a beast with ABT's blessing to develop 740 CV

ABT did its homework before the lockdown and has presented the Audi RS7-R, an absolute beast of 740 CV whose production will be limited to 125 units.

We live in an era where it could be said that squeezing more power out of virtually any engine is really simple, especially when it comes to high-performance powertrains. However, ABT wanted to go much further this time by taking advantage of the latest batch of Audi RS models, which have already succumbed to their charms. After seeing the new power levels the RS Q8, RS6 and RS7 can reach, the German tuner decided to take the next step after conceiving the RS7-R, a saloon ready to slow down any supercar.

And the fact is that Audi provided a very good base so that tuners like ABT could make the most of every last drop of its sportiness. With this premise, the engineers at the German firm have modified both the aesthetic and mechanical aspects to create a high-performance saloon in line with the tuner’s ideals.

Visually, there are various pieces that make it clear this is not a “normal” RS7. The front is now guarded by a more aggressive and imposing new splitter, accompanied by two side air intakes and by canards designed to improve the aerodynamic work of the four-ringed saloon.

The side flaunts muscle thanks to specially designed 22-inch wheels whose red-colored rim further highlights the gigantic brake calipers finished in the same shade. The rear now features a new diffuser that houses a quadruple cylindrical exhaust outlet designed to improve the sound of the Audi RS7. As a final touch, ABT’s designers have included a small spoiler finished in carbon fiber, a material repeated in various areas of the car.

However, the real essence of this RS7-R lies in its mechanical section. As standard, the engineers at the German firm equip their most performance-oriented saloon with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of delivering 600 CV and 800 Nm of torque, but various ECU modifications allow this engine to develop 740 CV and 920 Nm of torque. ABT has not yet revealed its performance figures, but we can expect them to be outrageous.

To add a touch of exclusivity to the Audi RS7-R, the German tuner has decided to limit its production. Only 125 lucky buyers will be able to access this level of modification for the German saloon, an ideal car for those customers who are not satisfied with 600 CV.
