The Abarth 500 is without a doubt one of those cars that, with just 135 horsepower, will win you over for life the moment you get your hands on it, something we know well at HighMotor since it’s a car we really like. You can see what I mean by reading our road test (part 1, part 2, part 3).

Even so, our minds always lead us to imagine going a step further, and thanks to tuners like Aznom, everything is possible. So much so that this renowned tuner is showing in Monaco one of the perhaps most attractive cars of the moment, no less than an Abarth 500 with mid-engine and rear-wheel drive producing 230 horsepower.

As you can see, at first glance you might think 230 horsepower isn’t much, but I can tell you that 135 in a car like the Abarth can be a lot of fun, so the combination of rear-wheel drive, 230 horsepower and 850 kg of weight is genuinely surprising.

Even so, certain elements deserve mention, such as a new Bilstein suspension with adjustable dampers, a much more powerful braking system and the new limited-slip differential, features that make this little Abarth a track beast to be reckoned with.

Finally, it’s worth noting that at the Top Marques Monaco show they’re talking about a hypothetical special Abarth for comparison with 280 horsepower, incredible.
